Inked

WARNING, it's a long one!

It is no secret, Chris and I love our tattoos. When people ask me why do I get tattoos my answer is simple. Each of my tattoos represent something that I am striving towards or something that I want to constantly remind myself of. Yeah, I guess I could just write it out on a sticky note and post it around my house but that would not be as much fun now would it! :)
I remember talking to my parents about getting a tattoo while I was still in high school and I LOVE and totally respected their response -"You can not get a tattoo until you are married. When you're married your body belongs to your husband and yall can make that decision together!" So that is what I did, I married a man who loves tattoos(and me)  :).

#1
After being married for almost a year Chris and I got coordinating tattoos. I knew that I wanted my future husband and I to get Song of Songs 2:16 "My beloved is mine, and I am his...".

I am not the kind of person that would ever get Chris' name on me but I still wanted something special so this is what we decided to do.

#2
Song of Solomon 8:6 "Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame."
This was one of the verses that was read at our wedding. I knew I wanted this on my foot and I since the whole verse wouldn't fit I picked out this part because to me, this line sums up the meaning.
On a side note, this tattoo hurt more than any of my other tattoos!

#3
"Great Counselor, take what's left of me"
- Oh Sleeper, Vices Like Vipers
The moment I heard this song these lyrics were stuck in my head! I wanted this to be my mind set for my life "Nothing is mine, it all belongs to God" and I want Him to "Take What's Left" of me and use it for His glory!

#4

I got this one about a year ago when 2 of my best buds from college came into town for a weekend. I've always wanted a Texas tattoo and this was perfect timing.  I wanted it to look exactly like the Texas on the license plate.

Here is the picture of Mandie and I getting our tattoos. Mandie got the words "Love Heals" in honor of the musical Rent, which she LOVES! Fun facts: We both got them on our left wrists. :)

#5
"We were born for our Father
We are soaked in His blood"
- Lyrics from OUTSIDEtheCAMP,
Zombacolypse <-- yes, that's the name of the song :)
This is my newest tattoo and these are lyrics from a song that Chris wrote and his band plays.  I love these lyrics and I think they are another awesome reminder that "Nothing is mine, it all belongs to God".
It is kinda hard to tell in the picture but this tattoo is right above my right knee.

Who knows how many more tattoos I will end up with. I know I would like to get one for each of my children, that is whenever I finally have kids :), but for now, this is it.

Below I have pictures of Chris' sleeve which is almost done, he just wants to add a few little finishing touches before he move onto the next arm or a chest piece, he can't decide. As you can see I am not trying to keep up with Chris in the tattoo department.

Well, that's all folks (for now)!
I hope you enjoyed all the art work.
God Bless!

Valentines Surprise

Chris and I are saving up for something very specials so we are even more short on funds than usual and because of that I really wasn't expecting us to do anything for Valentines Day.
Well, he surprised me . . .
Chris was off yesterday and he showed up at my work with lunch and some beautiful flowers! Then that evening when I got home from school I found another little surprise! :)

I was already planning on doing something little for him also. I found the gift idea on Pinterest, my new favorite website for ideas. It's called "52 Things I Love about You". It was something that would be cheap and pretty simple but it would require a lot of thought! :)

I also added another little treat! :)
*It says, "Save this for April 13th, 2012" . . . . For those that don't know, Chris LOVES Tattoos and he only goes to Elm Street Tattoo in Dallas. Every Friday the 13th they have a this awesome deal if you get a 13 tattoo it's only $13.00 + $7.00 tip! We have always wanted to go so I gave him the money for his now.

On top of all that, Chris agreed to take me to see The Vow tonight!
I am so excited, I have already been warned that I WILL cry! :)
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day!

We Love Ya!
