Zoo Fun with Jocelyn and Laila

Saturday Chris and I went and picked up our nieces, Jocelyn and Laila, for a day at the Dallas Zoo!

As you can see they were VERY excited! :)

On the way there Chris leaned over to me and whispered, "Do all little kids talk this much?" I just smiled and said, "Yep, this is just the beginning!" :)

As we were walking in Jocelyn said that we had to get a map so that she could know where we were going . . . that girl NEVER put that thing down! She loved keeping track of where we had been and what was coming next!

She was our Zoo Guide.

First Stop: Children's Zoo
They have a playground, petting zoo and more . . .

We slowly made our way around the zoo taking our time to read up on all the animals and to figure out where we were on our map.

We stopped for a group picture on the way out.

After about 5 mins of being in the car things got VERY quiet so I looked back to see this . . .

They were OUT!

We had a GREAT day and the weather was beautiful. I am so thankful that we were able to hang out with these sweet little girls! They were so much fun!

Cookin' with Levi

Last night we had a family dinner and I thought it would be fun to make a new dessert so I turned to my new favorite website, Pintrest, for ideas. After asking the family what they wanted for dessert I decided to make a S'more Pie! I was SO easy!

I recruited the help of my 1 1/2 year old nephew Levi!

Ingredients:

1 big box of sugar free/fat free chocolate pudding

1 1/2 cups of milk

small tub of light whipped cream

graham cracker pie shell

1 bag of big marshmallows

We started by mixing the box of pudding and 1 1/2 cups of milk (you may need to add a little bit more milk but not to much because it will be too runny, it needs to be thick) After mixing that together I added about 1 cup of whipped cream to it and mixed it all together!

Levi was also my taste tester! After each taste he would say, "Yummmmm!" and then he would go back for more.

While I put the mixture into the pie shell and covered the top with marshmallows Levi sat and enjoyed a little bowl of pudding.

He scraped his bowl CLEAN! :)

I placed the pie into the fridge until after dinner. When we were all ready for dessert I turned the oven on broil (high), placed the pie on the top rack and left the oven door cracked so I could watch it. When the marshmallows began to melt and turn a golden brown I took the pie out and it was ready to serve!

It was very yummy and tasted just like a S'more. but it was not easy to serve! It is nearly impossible to cut a marshmallow in half so each piece was a different size so that I could cut around the marshmallows and not through them!

Everyone gave it 2 Thumbs Up! You should try it!

2012 Goals

#1. Commit to the Lord! I want to become so committed to God that I turn to him as soon as I begin to worrying about the future. As I was reading the bible the other day I came across this verse, Proverbs 16:3. It really stuck out to me so I decided that it would be my verse for 2012!
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans." - Proverbs 16:3

#2 Be more Organized! Some of you might laugh at this because I am a clean freak. When you walk in the house or my room things look pretty organized and clean but if you dare to open my cabinets, closet, dresser, or look under my nightstand you might be surprised! Well, I'm working on it! Believe me it is driving me crazy just thinking about it but when I'm in a hurry those are my "catch-all" places and things are starting to pile up!

#3 Be more involved in my church! For someone looking in I might already seemed very involved between nursery leader, Patch Club teacher, singing on the worship team and more but I don't feel that I am completely and totally giving each thing my all! I am taking a closer look at what I am doing in each ministry and how I can do it better! I want to find ways that I can use the gifts and talents that I have been given to glorify God!
"...Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31

#4 Be a better Aunt! I have 7 nieces and nephews and some I see a LOT more than others. I really want to change that this year! I love each and every one of them so much, even the non-biological ones :)!

Jocelyn and Laila absolutely LOVE their Uncle Tiss but we really don't see them that often, Levi is growing up so fast and I don't want to miss anything, and I love being able to take Brody, Baxlyn, Kylee, & Korbin anytime I can to give Heather a break. I have so many reason to get more involved now I just need to do it!

So here is my plan . . . throughout this year I want each of them to have multiple Uncle Tiss & Aunt Bethie days!

I am purposely keeping my list short. I want to be able to take the time and focus on each of these goals so that I can make some real & fun changes in my life!

Anniversary Slim Down

Like most couples who have been married for more than ~~a day~~ a few years we have both put on a few pounds since we tied the knot almost 5 years ago and our goal is to get back to what we weighted when we got married by May 19th (our anniversary). Chris and I have set goals for ourselves and we are taking it 1 weeks at a time so that we don't overwhelm ourselves!
Below is the progress we made over the first 6 weeks!

Giving Thanks

As it gets closer to thanksgiving I, like most people, begin to think of things that I am thankful for. Lots of things run through my head so I thought I would make a list.
Here it is, in no particular order . . .

1. God - I have and know the God who created the universe and holds everything together. I am so thankful that NOTHING is to big or to small for me to take to Him!

2. My husband - Chris is the man that I look forward to seeing when I wake up in morning and I am excited to spend time with when I get home from work everyday. He is my rock! He is very supportive and he doesn't sweat the small stuff.

3. My Parents - They have always been awesome roll models for me and that is not because they are perfect but because they never stop working at it. The love they show each other it amazing and the love and understanding they have shown to myself and my sister and brother throughout the years has been overwhelming.
4. My Brother - Nate is 8 year younger than me and I still remember the day he was born. He is a miracle! I am very thankful for his silly/crazy/fun personality. He is also very talented!

5. My Sister & her lil'family - My sister and I are 2 years a part and we grew up doing everything together. I love her so much & she is one of my very best friends. Her husband, Mason, is so much fun and we love having him as part of our family. He always makes us laugh!
Then, there is Levi, her sweet, silly, handsome, spoiled baby boy!

6. My nieces - Jocelyn and Laila are both beautiful little girls that are growing up so fast! They both used to be scared of their Uncle Chris but now they LOVE him and his music. They are true OUTSIDEtheCAMP fans :)

7. OUTSIDE the CAMP - Yes, I am truly thankful for the band! This is a ministry that I am privileged to be apart of and it can reach those that I would have never met otherwise.

8. The Babies- Baxlyn, Korbin, Kylee, Brody - I see these babies as my nieces and nephews. They are miracles and they never cease to amaze me.

9. Friendships!

Heather - She knows me better than I know myself! I turn to her for things as small as what color toe nail polish I should pick to what I am going to do with my life! She is a VERY strong and very supportive!

Amy - she is always there for me to talk and cry with. She also does a great job at always reminding me to keep an eyes on God's plan.

Mandie - She is one of my closest friends yet she live so far away :( I consider her my big sister and we both know each other so well!

10. My Job - God has blessed me with a job that I love! I have been a Computer Foundations teacher at an elementary school for the past 5 years and I have so much fun being able to teach every kid in the school from Pre-K to 4th grade. I also have awesome co-workers!!!! My teammates at work make it fun on those crazy days when we all want to pull out our hair!

11. Extended family - I love my family, not just my immediate family but also my family through marriage! I So Blessed!

*No, I don't have a picture of everyone but Chris and I do want our whole family to know that we love them and we extremely thankful for them!*

66 Books in the Bible

I am very proud of my Patch the Pirate Club kids from my church! Almost every Wednesday night for the past year we have talked about a different book in the Bible and then they came up with a motion that would help them remember what happened in that book. Some make sense right away and other maybe not so much but it was all their ideas! :)

The #1 Question . . .

The "#1 Question" that I have been asked more in the past year than any other is . . .

"So, when are y'all having kids?"

*this question usually comes with the awkward look at my tummy or a wink :)

So here is the answer:

I truly believe that it isn't God's timing for us, yet. :)

For those of you that have known me for any amount of time know that I LOVE kids and I am very much looking forward to the day that I will be a mom, but for now, I'm good! Yes, it has taken LOTS of prayer and arguing with God about how I wanted things to go in my life for me to get to this point (click here - this older blog explains more) but, since I have stopped trying to make things go my way and turn a lot over to God I have had a peace! There are times when I'm around babies or pregnant ladies that I go home and through a little pity party for myself and wonder, "Why not me!" but when I get frustrated I remember this verse . . .
Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens..."
and I know that God timing is ALWAYS best!

As for those moments that I just need a "baby fix" I can go to work and I am instantly surrounded but hundreds of kids or I can go to church where I can rock a baby in the nursery or teach them about Jesus in Patch Club, or I can love on any of my nieces and nephews :)

God knew what he was doing when he surrounded me the hundreds of kids to love that aren't even mine! All I can say is, with all this practice, I am going to prepared when the time does come! ;)

North Carolina or Bust

Let me start out by saying sorry, most of the pictures are blurry because they were taken on my phone . . . yep, we went on a long over due family vacation and NO ONE brought a real camera! :(

We hit the road Sunday afternoon at about 2pm for North Carolina!

We arrived at Grandma Julia's house at 2pm on Monday (exactly 24hrs later)

Monday night mom, Anna and I went over to my Aunt Lynnie's shop. She does permanent makeup (you can check her out on Facebook). Mom had her eyeliner done years ago and needed a touch up, Anna chickened out and I got my eyeliner tattooed on! In the picture below my eye is still pretty swollen and sore.

Tuesday night Grandma Julia had a family get together were we got to see some of our family we had not seen in YEARS!! Aunt Deborah fell in Love with Levi.

Nathan found a candy shop with the World's Largest Gummy Bear so he had to get a picture with it!

It was 5lbs! :)

Thursday we drove another to 2hrs to Carolina Beach! It was Levi's first time and he LOVED it!

Friday night we had another family get together but this time it was with my mom's side of the family.

Saturday we started for home! This is just 1 of the many things we did to keep Levi entertained for the trip :)

We stopped in Gatlinburg, TN Saturday afternoon.

We went to the Ripley's Aquarium and a Mirror Maze that night!

Sunday morning we got up and went to the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum - Very Cool!

This was made of over 6,600 feet of Gum Wrappers and took 18 years to make!

After grabbing some lunch we jumped in the car for the LONG ride home.

We had a Great trip but I am also very happy to be home!

I Did It!

I have officially gone two weeks without make up!
During that time I focused on inner beauty and that we are all God's beautiful creation. :)

I am VERY proud of the girls the did this with me!

*Proverbs 31:30 - "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised."

*1 Peter 3:3-4 - "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

*1 Timothy 4:8 - "Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next."

*Ecclesiastes 3:11 - "He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end."

No Make-up Challenge

Okay, so this past week I gave all the teen girls at my church this No Make-up Challenge!

I presented the challenge to them by writing this letter:

"I want to start out by saying you are Beautiful. Psalm 139:14 says, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
            I also want to be completely honest with you, I forget that about myself MOST of the time. Almost every time I stand in front of the mirror I am thinking about everything I want to change about myself. It is a daily battle for me. I have been blessed with an awesome husband and wonderful friends that encourage me and tell me I'm beautiful but most of the time it goes in one ear and out the other.
            The reason I am telling you this is because I KNOW I am not the only one that feels like this. I also want you to know that just because you get older you don’t suddenly figure everything out.
            There are things that I use as a cover up that keep me from listening to God when He says that "We are His masterpiece..." in Ephesians 2:10 and one of those things that I use as a cover up is make-up. So I have decided to give it up. I am going to start out by not wearing make-up for the next 2 weeks.

During the time I would be using to put on my make-up I am going to be studying/ memorizing the following 7 verses:

*Ephesians 2:10 - "We are His masterpiece..."

Now I know most of you don't do the whole make-up thing, so I want you to stop and think of what you use as a cover up. It may be fixing your hair, it could be the choice of clothing, it could be anything ... most of us have something we use as a cover up so think about what it is & Give it Up for the next 2 weeks and use that time to put God 1st!

P.S. I don’t think there is anything wrong with make-up or fixing your hair but if we put it before God and we don't believe everything that is written in His word, that is when I think we need to re-evaluate our priorities and that is what I'm talking about!"

Anniversary Weekend

It was perfect!

We both started our anniversary celebrations off on Wednesday. Chris spend most of the afternoon getting a new tattoo to (almost) finish his sleeve.

Romantic ain't it ;)

While he was there I was at the nail salon where I got my nails done and enjoyed a relaxing pedicure! :)

We both had to work on Thursday so we just hung out with the family for the evening.

Chris had to work on Friday morning so I made an appointment for an hour massage = BeSt IdEA yEt!

After the massage I headed home to pack for our weekend get-a-way and when Chris got home from work we hit the road.

*Side Note: For Christmas my parents got us a weekend get-a-way & dinner with George(our dog) care included so we saved it for now.*

My dad booked us for a 2 night stay at the.

When we got there we told them we were there celebrating our anniversary so they upgraded us to a suite!

After checking everything out and getting settled we got ready to go out to a nice dinner.

Saturday was awesome, we finally got to sleep in which neither one of us have done in a long time then we went over to the Galleria Mall to do a little window shopping. That night we went to

and saw Pirates of the Caribbean 4 in 3D.

**When we were on our Honeymoon Pirates of the Caribbean 2 came out and we found this cute little theater in Colorado and saw it so we figured since they the timing worked out for this new one we had to see it this weekend. :) **

Sunday morning we got to sleep in AGAIN! Then we finished up our weekend at Original Pancake House for a big brunch.

We both would love to thank everyone for all the sweet anniversary wishes!

We have already started planning our 5th Anniversary trip . . . . a cruise! :)

Anniversary Month

That's right I am dragging this thing out ALL month :) Our actual anniversary is May 19th and we will have married for 4 years!

I always wanted a van . . .

So if you know me at all you know that when I bought my car I would have much rather bought a nice mini van & at the time Chris wouldn't let me,

now look at what we own . . . Yep, this baby belongs to us . . .

Actually we got this van for OUTSIDEtheCAMP.

Since the guys have been getting more shows (a lot of them not being so close to home) Chris decided it was time to trade in his truck (which was all paid off) for something that would haul around all their equipment as well as 4-5 guys. After toying around with the idea of just getting a trailer this little beauty came along. :]

To make a long story short this van is now a part of the OUTSIDEtheCAMP family!

He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” 8 Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.[a] [The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have verses 9–20.] 9 When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. 10 She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping. 11 When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it. 12 Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country. 13 These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either. 14 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. 15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” 19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

Jesus Before Pilate

1 Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, made their plans. So they bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate. 2 “Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate. “You have said so,” Jesus replied. 3 The chief priests accused him of many things. 4 So again Pilate asked him“Aren’t you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of.” 5 But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed. 6 Now it was the custom at the festival to release a prisoner whom the people requested. 7 A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising. 8 The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did. 9 “Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate, 10 knowing it was out of self-interest that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him. 11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead. 12 “What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?” Pilate asked them. 13 “Crucify him!” they shouted.
14 “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!” 15 Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

The Soldiers Mock Jesus

16 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. 18 And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” 19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. 20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.
The Crucifixion of Jesus

21 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. 22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). 23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get. 25 It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. 26 The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS. 27 They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. [28] [a] 29 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 come down from the cross and save yourself!” 31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! 32 Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
The Death of Jesus

33 At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[b] 35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.” 36 Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said. 37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. 38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died,[c]he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” 40 Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph,[d] and Salome. 41 In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.
The Burial of Jesus

42 It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. 44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. 45 When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. 47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where he was laid.

The Last Supper

12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?” 13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.” 16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover. 17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.” 19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely you don’t mean me?” 20 “It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me. 21 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.” 22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.” 23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 “This is my blood of the[c] covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial

27 “You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written: “‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’[d] 28 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”
29 Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.” 30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice[e] you yourself will disown me three times.” 31 But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.

Gethsemane

32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.” 35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[f] Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” 37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him. 41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

Jesus Arrested

43 Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!” and kissed him. 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 48 “Am I leading a rebellion,” said Jesus, “that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.” 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled. 51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

Jesus Before the Sanhedrin

53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. 54 Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire. 55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. 56 Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
57 Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.’” 59 Yet even then their testimony did not agree. 60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” 62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” 63 The high priest tore his clothes. “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?” They all condemned him as worthy of death. 65 Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.
Peter Disowns Jesus 66 While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67 When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him.
“You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,” she said. 68 But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,” he said, and went out into the entryway.[g]
69 When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” 70 Again he denied it. After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.” 71 He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.” 72 Immediately the rooster crowed the second time.[h] Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice[i] you will disown me three times.” And he broke down and wept.

My relationship with God - While reading this morning I came across the above verse and it made me stop and look at things a little differently!

My husband - who have been my support through some pretty sucky(that might not be a word :] ) situations!

My parents - they are an awesome example of what a Godly marriage should look like.

My sister - Best Friend.

My little brother - he is a very special gift from God to our family!

My close friends that I can confide in - God has put some amazing girls in my life that I could not imagine being without! Heather, Amy, & Mandie - just to name a few but, believe me there are many more!

My nieces and nephews - Jocelyn, Laila, Levi, Brody, Baxlyn, Kylee, & Korbin (the last 4 aren't biological but they still count ;] ) - All of these babies make me realize how amazing God's love is!

My in-laws - REALLY, they are pretty great! :]

Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. Just over two years ago Brody, Baxlyn, Kylee, and Korbin Cox were born nearly 3 months early and fell among those devastating statistics. Thanks to the March of Dimes and the efforts it makes towards raising awareness and funds to help fight prematurity, The Cox Quads are here today. I will be walking along with many others this month in Dallas to help support the March of Dimes and I'm asking you to join us in supporting them. The Babies need YOU! So after become a MAJOR slacker and not loosing (also not gaining) any weight in the past few months I am determined to get back on track!

This time I have hooked Chris into working out and going on a diet with me. Surprisingly this wasn't that hard since he played some Touch football last week and was sore for days he realized he might need to get into shape too :)

I made up a weigh in chart and I put it in the hall bathroom on the wall so anyone who enters will see it! That is one of my motivators . . . there is no way I will let my weight go up if I know it is out there for the world to see.

So here we go! I going to get back to counting my calories and exercising!

Dear Readers,

As most of ya’ll know Chris, my husband, is in OUTSIDEtheCAMP, a local Christian rock band. This is not just a hobby or something these guys do on the side! This is a ministry that they have been able to use to reach out to people of all ages. This ministry is very important to me as well and this is why I am sending you this letter!

This past August they were invited to Nashville where they played a showcase for some different music label representatives. While they were there they got to meet a lot of people and make some great contacts.

Now, because of that trip they have been given an awesome opportunity to go back to Nashville December 6th – 13th to record 3 songs that will then be passed on to some major music labels.

This is not going to be a cheap trip. Each song will cost about $1000.00 plus the cost of being off work, food for 5 guys, and gas!

Please take the time to pray and ask God what you can do for OUTSIDEtheCAMP! Whether it is through money or prayers both will be GREATLY appreciated!

Life as I Know it . . .

. . . is NoThInG like I would have imagined when I was in High School!

We all have been there, sitting in your Senior class and you have to write about where you think you will be in 5 years, 10 years, 15 years and so on. Well, like I said before things are not how I planned. My plan for my life was to skip college, get married right out of High School, and be a mom as soon as possible after that! That is all I wanted for my life, to be the best wife and mom that I could be!

Well, here is what's wrong with the above plan. . . Everything I have been saying was MY plan for my life, I didn't stop to consider GOD's plan!

Life After High School . . .

Graduated from high school in May 2005

College from 2005-2007

Chris became a part of OUTSIDEtheCAMP - 2007

Married in May 2007

Started teaching in Aug 2007

Up to this point I has completely fine with how life had changed from my original plan. I just knew that soon enough I would be able to have things just the way I planned!

Once again I was leaving out a very important key to this plan . . . I was completely aware that Chris felt God had called him to be a part of OUTSIDEtheCAMP and that this would be his ministry. I was also aware that it was going to take some sacrificing but since I didn't stop and think realistically I was not aware of just how much of a sacrifice it would actually be.

We lived on our own until April of 09 when Chris' company that he worked for closed. It was very hard to think that we had to go back home! That was not part of my plan!

Our original goal was to be out of their house my July of 09. We figured that would give Chris enough time to get a good job and we could be on our own again!

God had OTHER plans!

The job search for Chris was not an easy one because we were looking for a job that would work around OUTSIDEtheCAMP's schedule. God had begun to open a LOT of doors for the band and it soon became apparent to us and those around us that this ministry was far from coming to an end. After finding a job that would work around the shows, practices, traveling and recording we found that the income was not enough to live on our own. I am blessed to have parents who understand the ministry of OUTSIDETHE CAMP and how much of a sacrifice it has been for us and they have let us continue to live with them.

There are times that I become very upset that this is NOT what I wanted or planned for my life. How am I suppose to be a stay at home mom with no home and how I suppose to raise children if we can't afford groceries for ourselves half the time?

The funny thing is when I begin to through a pity party for myself and tell Chris I am tired of not having things go my way, God steps in and show me a little of His plan for my life right now. I realized, how could God trust me with anything greater since I have not stopped to be thankful and become the best I can be at what I have already been given.

So the moral of this LONG story is . . . GOD has a plan for my life that I can not even begin to understand right now! It is better and so far more interesting than I could have ever imagined for myself! And when I get frustrated that I am not living life how I planned, I stop and think . . .

God left Heaven, he left Paradise to be beaten and killed to be our Saviour.

I left a 2 bedroom apartment, and lost a little income to be apart of a ministry that can reach those I would have never met otherwise!

Needless to say it does not begin to compare!

So really, Why am I complaining?

Port Aransas

This past weekend we had a chance to get away and go to Port Aransas with the In-Laws . . . and believe it or not I had a great time ;)

No really, I am blessed with some great in-laws on both sides :]

We left EARLY friday morning and headed to Port Aransas. On the way there we made some stops. We stopped at Katz's Deli on 6th Street in Austin then we drove to San Marcos to do a little shopping and then we set out for Port A.

As soon as we got there we put all our stuff in the beach house and we got to the beach as fast as we could :]
We had an awesome 2 days relaxing and playing at the beach. We even took the time to act like a couple kids and build a sand castle :)

I spend last weekend in Austin with some of the BEST girls ever!

We all got a MUCH needed relaxing mini-vacation and what made it even better is that we got to do the things we LOVE! We went swimming, spent a morning at the Zoo, played pranks on people, and we ate A LOT! :)

It feels like it is taking forever while I am in the moment of eating a Garden Burger, or Oatmeal, or meal replacement bar while everyone around me is eating Mac n Cheese, Pizza, Garlic Bread and on and on I can go but looking back it has gone by fast! Don't get me wrong I have had my moments of splurging but then I feel guilty and have to work out even longer that day :)

Since working out I have been able to do more like . . . . DRUM ROLL PLEASE . . . . . I jogged a WHOLE MILE last week and along with jogging I can also do a REAL sit-up now!

I'm not done yet, the competition at the gym end this coming Monday (the 17th) but I am actually starting to enjoy working out. :) This week while working out my awesome sister-in-law (who is in the competition with me) saw that her and I were both tied for 3rd place! It felt good to think I was doing well enough to make it on the board!

So here is where I'm at so far . . .

March 13th - 191 lbs. :(

March 22nd - 188lbs.

March 29th - 187lbs

April 5th - 183lbs

April 12th - 183lbs . . . I lost Nothing the whole dang week . . . ugh!

Great Weekend!

I wasn't expecting to loose a lot this week because that is my pattern. I don't know why but it seems to work out that way. I loose 1lbs then I loose 3 or more.
So this week should be a good one!
I am only 12lbs away from my goal!

I also had an awesome week with my some of my friends from college!

I love these girls! We went out to dinner Friday night when they got here and stayed up and talked until 1 in the morning! The next day we headed out for some yummy Starbucks and Pedicures!

After we did some shopping we decieded while they were here we should get tattoos, so that's what we did! ;)

April 12th - 183lbs . . . I lost Nothing the whole dang week . . . ugh!

April 19th - 178lbs - I can not remember the last

time my weight was below 180 . . . Whoop Whoop!!

They also took all our measurement again last night. I was not expecting that much i just figured a few centimeters here and there . . . I did better than I thought!

All the #'s are rounded off because I could not remember all the .5's, 3/4th's and all that other good stuff! :)

So how am I doing this . . .

Breakfast- most of time I eat a 1 1/2 cups of low calorie cereal with about 4oz of skim milk. Lunch - High Fiber Oatmeal with sugar free pudding or apple sauce Dinner - I honestly eat whatever is around I just read all the details about it and eat half of what I would usually eat! Snack - Fiber Plus bar and Fruit Drinks - I have a glass of V8 Fusion because I am not a fan of veggies and I drink LOTS of water with an occasional Diet Coke!

On average I workout about 4 times a week for about 1 1/2 hrs each time and combine cardio and weights! As long as this keeps workin' I'm going to stick with it!

Yesterday was a great Monday!

What's Going Down?

My weight, that's what . . .

I am been working my butt off, eating better as well as eating less and it is starting to pay off! When I weighed in on March 29th and realized only lost 1.2 lbs that week I was determined to do better this last week and I DID!! I lost 5lbs!

March 13th - 191 lbs. :(
March 22nd - 188lbs.
March 29th - 187lbs

April 5th - 183lbs!!!

This week I am going to stay strong and keep working hard!

My goal is to be 165lbs. by May 17th

(thats when the Slim Down Challenge ends but I plan to continue to work out)!

I'm only 18lbs away!!

During this week before Easter Sunday my church is having a service Wed night -Sat night!

Last night the sermon was awesome!

We learned about a man who walked out of the hospital 2 years ago. If you think about it we hear about people walking out of the hospital all the time and it doesn't seem that special until you know the reason he was in the hospital and what he has gone through.

You can't know how Good it is until you know how Bad it was!

So here is more of the story . . . the man that walked out of the hospital was Alcidas Moreno. This man is a window washer in New York. Alcidas and his brother washed the windows on the big Manhattan skyscraper buildings. On Dec 7th, 2007 while they were on the 47th floor (about 500ft up) the scaffolding collapse and they fell straight to the ground. Alcidas' brother died instantly. Alcidas on the other hand was taken to the hospital, he was given 24 units of donated blood and suffered MANY broken bones and collapsed organs!
On January 4th, 2008 he had movement in all his limbs and he was breathing on his own!
So now, when you hear a man walked out of the hospital 2 years ago you know how big of a deal it really is!

You can't know how Good it is until you know how Bad it was!

If you are a Christian you are Saved by Jesus and his blood on the cross, but if you look at us today what are we really saved from? We have our cars, our house, more food than we need, family, friends, nice clothes, we get our hair and nails done, etc. We are blessed beyond what we need! It is not that any of those things are a bad thing it is that . . .

You can't know how Good it is until you know how Bad it was!

We take advantage of our blessings everyday. We forget how bad it was. We forget that Jesus had to die so that we would not get what we deserve. When we were born it was in our nature to sin but what makes it worse is that God has given us rules that we can follow and yet we choose to disobey them!

Think about it. . .

If we sinned ONLY 3 times a day

Times 365 days in the year

Times 85 years in our life time

That is about 90,000 sins in your lifetime

Multiply that time everyone in the world and remember Jesus died for ALL those sins!

We deserve death!

In the beginning of Romans 6:23 it says, "For the wages of sin is death . . ."

This is the word of God and since it is his word He also has to follow it but lucky for us the verse continues . . .

". . . but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Jesus knew we didn't have a chance without Him! He knew that without His GRACE we would die and that would be it, it would be our only option but GRACE stepped in and gave us another option, ETERNAL LIFE!

You can't know how Good it is until you know how Bad it was!

Take time to remember what we have now and what we have been saved from!

Take time to thank God for His son, Jesus!

Slim Down Challenge

So . . . I joined a gym over Spring Break!

When I joined they were promoting the Slim Down Challenge so I though,

"Why Not, that sounds like a great idea!"

The Challenge started Monday, March 22nd and last for the next 8 weeks!

We have to

1. write down what we eat

2. keep track of the Calories and Fat grams

3. meet with a trainer once a week

And here is the best part . . .

Whoever looses the most % weight at the end of the 8 weeks wins

$1,000.00

So needless to say I am in it to win it!

I had to weight in and get my picture taken and all that not so fun stuff last Monday and today I have to weight in! I have been working to get to the gym 3-4 times a week and I'm looking for healthy snack and meals that I actually like (that has actually been easier than I thought it would be). Now I just have to stick with it . . . easier said than done!

So I thought . . . to keep myself accountable and to help me work harder I would post my weight each week and hopefully we can watch it go down together! So here I go!

March 13th - 191 lbs.

Weekend Tour

Last week Chris' band OUTSIDEtheCAMP was invited to replace a band on the Blue Tour with Manic Drive. Of course they said yes and the search began to find a van the would fit all the equipment + 5 guys and possible a merch girl (me). Well, needless to say with only 2 days to find a big van & no money to rent one we moved our sights to a Mini Van (wonderfully donated by my parents) and my car so that we could transport all the stuff and people! When we realized that I would have to drive my car I knew there was no way I would stay awake driving all over Texas so I enlisted the help of a good friend Damaris, she was a life saver!

After the show we packed everything up and said our good byes at 12am, we headed to McAllen, Texas!

We drove through the night and arrived in McAllen, Texas around 9:30am. We hung out outside most of the day because the weather was beautiful! The guys worked on teaching Nick the songs since he had never played with them before (he did GREAT by the way)!

Damaris and I decided to take a nap under a tree and the guys picked us some Clementines from a nearby tree!

After a long day of hanging out and napping the guys played an awesome outdoor show!

Once the show was finished and everything was packed up we set out at 12am to our next show in Sherman, Texas, which is 10hrs in the OTHER direction!

On top of being extremely sleep deprived we all where starting the smell a little funky because of the lack of showers so we made pit stop at Chris' grandparents house in Gunter for some MUCH needed cleaning & relaxing!

Finally we all smelled and look clean again! We then hit the road again and made our way to Sherman, where the guys played yet another awesome show!
The weekend was a BLAST! We were all TIRED and glad to be home Sunday night. For most of us, we all had to be up the next morning for work or school, but it was all worth it! I am very proud of the guys and everything they did this weekend!

Fun Friday!

Over Christmas Break Chris and I went to 2 White Elephant parties and in that process we came home with a Sombrero, which Chris is very proud of!

A few weeks ago we brought the sombrero over to Heather and Bret's to see how the Quads liked the hat.

Baxlyn didnt care and Kylee was scared of it!

As for Brody, he liked to look at it!

Korbin on the other hand likes to actually wear it!

Holy Moly I'm 23!

Yesterday was my 23rd Birthday and I have to say it was one of the best, by far!

1. Girls at school got me Chili's for lunch! Mmmm. Bacon Burger!!

2.My wonderful mom delivered an Edible Arrangements. This is not the exact one because when I went down to take a picture of the arrangement is was almost gone :)

3. Chris came up to the school and surprise me with roses & Starbucks!

4. My Team at school also gave me some gift cards and Cheese Cake!!

5. With one of the gift cards Chris and I went to dinner and I had some yummy Shrimp!

6. I went and got a pedicure

7.Finally we went to the movie with some friends! At first I was not so excited about the movie but Chris kept saying it was funny and believe it or not it actually was :)

I have a wonderful day! Saturday my mom is make me Chicken and Dumplings (my favorite) and we are have a par-tay! I am excited!

Christmas Groove!

Last week I finally convinced everyone that is was time to get a tree and

start decorating the house!

The guys went and picked out a tree and set it up. They got all the boxes out of the attic then Chris left for work and Dad and Nate put up the lights outside and then they all left to do some shopping.

(Nate took this picture of the lights on the side of the

house and was VERY proud of it so I told him I would use it.)

Well, I was home alone and all the boxes where driving me crazy so

I started putting everything up!

I even got all the lights on the tree before they got home! I did not decorate the tree since we do that as a family every year but everything else was done when they got home. I mean everything, decorations, presents under the tree, dishes clean, vacuuming done, everything! I was proud of myself! :)

I hope everyone is in the Christmas Groove too!

We finally got to go see the babies this weekend! Since the flu was all around me at school for a few weeks and then I was sick for a week and then I had to staying way for another week to make sure I was all better I finally got to go hang with Heather and Bret and love on the babies!

We didn't have school on Monday so I went with Heather to take the babies to a Dr.'s appointment. I got Brody to laugh so I started recording, surprisingly he didn't stop when he saw the camera! You will love this it is sooo cute!

I love my job but it also one of the worst places to be if you want to stay healthy. All the kids with their sneezes, snotty noses, and coughs just infect everyone. So needless to say I will not be seeing the babies that much over the next 7 months! = (

I am just hoping to make it through this season with out getting the flu which is going to be hard to do since the flu is going around the school like CRAZY right now!

The Amazing Grace

A few weekends ago we had the ladies retreat for our church. We were headed to Waco for the Just Give Me Jesus conference by Anne Graham Lotz.

Heather, Amy and myself worked hard and planned to have as much fun as we could for everyone.

Team"Not Old!" - The master planners!

We gave every team a list of tasks that they had to complete on the way to Waco. Here are a few pictures of some of the tasks that were completed!

Here are the "Holy Rollers"! They had to take a picture in a bathroom!

Here are the "Sweet Believers". They took a picture with a cop and ironically they were the only team that got pulled over for speeding and actually got a ticket!

Here are the F.A.B.S.(fourty and beyond sisters)! They put a clown nose on a stranger!

Tonight my husbands band OUTSIDE the CAMP is playing in for 89.7 Power Fm . . . hopefully they will be on the radio soon!

Yesterday at church I learned something that will stick with me for a long time, partly because my dad starting singing and dancing but also because it is so true!

Back to School . . . almost

Wow, this summer has gone by so fast. I am honestly ready for school to start and maybe that will keep my mind off of everything that is going crazy at home.

At the beginning of July Chris was hit by a drunk driver and my car has been in the shop since then and it is looking like it is going to take 3 more weeks!

Also at the beginning of July Chris lost his job and as of right now we are waiting and praying that he will find one soon.

So needless to say, I want to go back to work to keep myself occupied with other stuff!

This summer was not all bad, my sister got married and the Quads will be 6 months old on Aug. 16th!! God is Good!

Already July

It has been a while! Summer is almost halfway over!

I got to go to Teen Camp and Jr. Camp and we had a blast both weeks!

Now we are getting ready for my sister's wedding shower next weekend, her wedding on the 14th in Florida and then her reception a week after that in Plano! Wow things are crazy!

I am going into MASSIVE cleaning mode next week because after that we are having relatives from all over coming and going for the next few weeks!

Please pray for Chris and I. His job is also ending next week and we really need him to find another job soon so that I can afford the gas to get to work. Being this broke is stressful and sucks but . . . I have found a positive to it!

It has caused me to stop and realize that there are a lot of things that I have to I do not need. As for the things I do need, God Provides!

"And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ." Philippians 4:19

Ready 4 Summer!

Our anniversary was great! We got away for the whole night, went to a nice dinner and a movie! It was great!

Tomorrow is that last day of school . . . thats right, Saturday, we are paying for our snow day!
I am so so so ready for school to over. It feels like we have no control of the kids since they know there is not much we can do if they don't obey!
I can't wait until Monday, I am so sleeping in!

I sat there and rocked, for what seemed like an hour, to keep them alseep while Heather got the bottle and everything ready for last night! I was there for 3 different feedings and we went through 12 bottles!

I am so excited i am headed over there to night to love on them!

God is so amazing, I don't think I will ever be able to understand how someone

sees these babies or any baby and still does not believe that there is something big

than anyone can possible imagine out there who has His mighty hand on their

little bodies and has a very special plan for their lives!

Almost Friday!

That is right is it almost friday, just few hours to go!

This has been a long, fun, exciting, sleepy week!

I have had a blast being with Baxlyn, Korbin and Mom and Dad!

Miss Baxlyn Hope fast asleep!

Mr. Korbin Lee wasn't excited about the idea of sleeping!

To be honest it was not as hard as I thought it would be, making it through the night with these two but having to get up early the next day and then work from 7:30am - 7:00pm, I am starting to get a little warn out!

Now it is time for some sleep! I am going to sleep in my own bed tonight and tomorrow I am off to Oklahoma! I am so excited, I feel like I have not see my friends there in forever!

Long Night

We tried Tummy Time and Korbin was NOT happy about it.

This weekend is going to be great!

Tonight Heather, Anna and I are going to decorate for Heather's baby shower tomorrow then we are off to meet up with our guys to celebrate Heather's birthday(which was Thursday) by going out to dinner! After that the 6 of us are all going back to H&B's house for our last night of a completely baby free hang out time!!

The girls should be home MONDAY and the boys will be home soon after, YEAH! I am so so so excited, I dont think it will kick in that I am really going to helping take care of Quads until they all get home and we begin to get on a schedule! I am soo ready!

Ready for Summer

I realized today that we have about 9 weeks left of school! I can't believe this year is already almost over! I am so excited about this summer. In May the babies will be coming home (God Willing maybe sooner) and it is our 2 Year Anniversary! June we are going out of town for our anniversary and relaxing! July my little sis is getting married in Florida!! It is going to be a really fun summer!!

Well, that is all for now, I am going to babysit!
